Privacy policy

Recorded Fear · Effective October 14, 2026

Recorded Fear is a horror game for adults (18+) that uses your phone camera to place ghosts in your surroundings. This policy explains what the game uses, what it stores, and your choices. It is not directed to children.

Short version: your camera view and recordings stay on your device. The website has no ads. The Android app shows a full-screen ad between levels (never while you play), served by Google AdMob. An account is optional.

What the game uses on your device

You can deny any permission. The game stays playable without the microphone and without location.

Information we collect

You can play as a guest, and progress is then saved only on your device. If you create an account, we store:

We do not collect your name, phone number, contacts or photos. In the Android app, Google AdMob may collect your device advertising ID, IP address and app usage to show and measure ads.

How we use it

Only to sign you in, save and restore your progress, and keep the game working. We do not sell your information and we do not use it for advertising. Ads in the Android app are handled by Google AdMob under Google's policy. Where the law requires it (for example in the EU and UK) you are asked for consent first, and you can reset or limit your advertising ID in your phone's settings.

Service providers

Account data is stored with our backend provider, Supabase, which hosts it on our behalf. Data is sent over HTTPS. In the Android app, ads are provided by Google AdMob.

Keeping and deleting your data

Active account data is kept while your account exists, with no implemented time-based expiry. You can request deletion of your account or personal data without deleting your account by following our public data deletion page. Signed-in players can also use Profile, Delete my account. Email requests are handled manually; no fixed completion deadline has been verified. Clear browser site data or Android app storage to remove guest progress and preferences, and delete saved recordings separately. See the deletion page for retained-data categories, reasons and retention details, including provider periods that remain unverified.

Children

The game contains horror themes and is for people 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.

Safety

Play in a safe place with the lights on. Never play while walking near roads or driving. The game includes flashing and flicker effects, and you can turn them down in Settings, Reduce flashing effects.

Changes to this policy

If we change how data is handled, for example by adding ads, we will update this page, change the effective date, and ask for your consent where the law requires it.
